This article examines Green Campus Initiatives (GCIs) at Durban University of Technology (DUT), with a focus on sustainability education. It highlights the role of educational initiatives in promoting environmental consciousness. The study reveals how DUT integrates sustainability into its curriculum and extracurricular activities, fostering a culture of ecological awareness. Challenges in formalizing policies and engaging stakeholders are discussed, alongside successes in embedding sustainability in academic programs. The article recommends that higher education institutions, enhance sustainability education, formalize environmental policies, and evaluate their sustainability efforts to better prepare environmentally conscious graduates.
